Saturday 10,026 ft of climbing.

Up a lot

A few things about this ride makes me pleased. It was 55 miles with 10,000+ of gain. Leadville has 14k over 100, so today was considerably hillier. I averaged 10.5 mph with an average HR of just 138 (my LT is right at 176 right now which technically puts today's effort at Zone 1 or below MAF...IE: super easy). Solid day for me. And maybe the coolest data point for me is that I was never further than 6 miles from my house.
I need 3900ft tomorrow to get 30,000 vertical for the week.

That's solid! Were you riding Walker or just on the roads?

It's going to be scary what you're going to be able to do come leadville with 5 more months of training and in race mode.

Thanks Aaron. I'm training on a fully rigid steel 29er that weighs 35 pounds (for real). Keeping to roads and just trying to get my cycling fitness back. I'll start getting on technical trails this Spring and also when I can ride my sponsor's 23 pound full suspension 29er which I'll be racing at Silver Rush and Leadville.

Full squish 29er...need to see some pics when that bad boy makes it's way out!:)
I was all psyched about the climbing I did until I read your blog today...Thanks for ruining my day:). I gotta get off Long Island!
Solid work! Just imagine what that 23 pound rig is gonna feel like!

Makes my little 4k of climbing look pretty soft. You really know how to make a guy feel good.

Nice! I might just have to enlarge the alimeter photo to poster size and hang it up over my Farrah poster.

All I can think to say is...damn!

Dave- It's going to be beyond me.

Matt- 4k is solid man! And you ran afterward, I had a beer.

Rick- I would be honored! I love Farrah. Is it the one of her in the red bikini?

Thanks Jim. I am glad I didn't have to run downhill for 10k though!

48 mph, eh?

48.4... on a road bike I could have gotten 60.

OK, admittedly I was just scanning posts in Google Reader but then when I saw 55 miles I had to double check...was he running or biking? I think that's a compliment.

Ha! Ya, that question is a compliment.
