Tuesday 0 miles..

Not a good start to the new year with my jogging. I woke up at 5:30 to run and Ben woke up at 6:00 as I was heading out. I took one for the team and let Jo sleep in and skipped my run.
This is the 4th month for us with no TV. Just thought I would put that out there. I have stopped missing it and don't find it hard to fill in that time with other things.
The offished/ mantuary/ is ready for dry wall and insulation.

PS- The moustache is coming in so sweet it would make Magnum jealous!

Im going on 2 yrs sans TV ... don't mind it at all but you'll notice you get left out of many conversations re: Desperate Housewives, 24, etc ...
Im thinking about getting one though since a have a baby on the way ... I hear they have some amazing kids programing & DVD's.

Wow- 2 years is solid! There are some good kids programs like Sesame Street and Myth Busters... Myth Busters for the big kids! I love that show! Congrats on the wee one on the way!

We did rabbit ears for about 6 months. It was great. I almost forgot how dysfunctional our government and most of the world actually was. Made life much more peaceful...and you still get PBS.

Brett- Ya, when I was at my sister's for X-mas we watched the news... disturbing! I rarely watched the news anyway but seeing it again after so long was not appetizing. I even avoid the web news pages... is that wrong? I often think that by de-educating myself on the state of the country I am not helping to solve anything.

I like tv, esp since the advent of dvr. Now I record what I like Watch it when I want/can and can fast forward through the crap I don't want to watch. Who's idea was it to put all that dialogue in porn anyway. :)

DVR would be cool. The dialogue in porn is where I learned how to be so suave with the ladies... and how to grow a moustache..

I download all my TV shows now and wouldn't miss it for a minute if we didnt have a TV set. Watch what I want, when I want, commercial free. Plus, sitting at a desk with a 22" monitor feels like watching a big screen. We went for a year with no cable and I was amazed at how content I was with my life during that period. No advetisments to make me feel inadequate about my car, my TV, my waistline, my hairline, my clothes, my friends, my love life...
As for 'helping solve' things, you know you don't need a TV for that.
If you feel like you could do more: welcome to the club, brother. We're built to help each other out.

Once you get the sitcom plots out of your bloodstream it becomes easy to not have a TV. Usually occurs when you miss an entire TV season.

Then if you keep reminding yourself that John Elway doesn't come and watch me work on Monday morning so why should I watch him or any other sports person do their job you have mastered the next hurdle to living sans boob tube.

Getting your news via an RSS feed completes the kill your TV trifecta.

You can now find a passing commercial funny and be the only dork laughing at a social gathering because you are busy utilizing your time on other projects which may or may not have some redeeming value.

TV free for 5 years, but recently got HDTV for the movies. (Rabbit ears in Bldr barely work anyway) Theater popcorn costs take too much GU $$ out of my pocket.
