Puma Piss, Tonka trucks and Italian shoes

No, not like Charlie Sheen and his "tiger blood"... I walked in from my morning jog and grabbed Oliver's Tonka truck out of the driveway and I immediately smelled something foul. It was soaked in cat urine (I once had an extremely large African lion spray me with his "scent"... the smell is unforgettable. True story.) Not just a small spray... it was COVERED and Tonka trucks are big. I had have mountain lion piss all over my hands. That was 10 hours ago and I can still smell it. Glad I wasn't covered in it for my run up in the back woods. I might have found myself being dominated by a large cougar (there Rick and David, I lobbed one to you).
And speaking of domination I was in the big city today and went to the Boulder Sports Recycler and found a barely used pair of Sidi Dominator 5 MTB shoes for $32.00. They are Italian, cost $250.00 new, and totally rock. On my ride today I heard a loud BANG and thought I blew a tire... I looked down and realized it was just a thunder clap of awesomeness from my shoes.

when you see a purchase like that, what do you imagine? that some rich guy got geeked on biking, but then quit after he fell once? or are they stolen? not that it matters.

"thunderclap of awesomeness" marks a new chapter in your post composition. roche is a clear influence, but it's subtle.

In Boulder? Definitely a rich dude who scuffed them and bought new ones.
That's a compliment! David is a hell of a writer I think. Thanks.

Nice find. I'm looking for shit like that to sell on Ebay. I just started my shoe enterprise last week, sold a new pair of brooks I bought at a clearance store and another pair today that I bought cheap. But I'm not quite making much profit. . . yet.

I need to nail the price to account for shipping (I'm including "free shipping"). That's a bitch, but looks like Ebay gives a discount on that.

Any tips on Ebay selling?

Must find cheap goods. . .

PS That race looks it'd been a nice tune-up.

Matt- I know that you will be more successful on e-bay with no reserve and a low starting bid, like $1.00. That starts a bidding war and drives the price up over the average. Lots of pics (at least one good one of the sole) and I think also including a measurement of the foot bed. With motorcycle boots the good ones always include a solid length and width measurement so you can see if they will fit. I know Pearl Izumi has a whacked foot sizing concept (I wear a size 12 in Pearl and a size 10.5 in everything else)so being able to measure my current foot bed is helpful. You also need to include a money back guarantee which 99% of the time will never be used, but it is an appealing and comforting selling point.

Lucho - "a thunder clap of awesomeness from my shoes" Yeah, very nice.

Now, I think you'd better get out in the yard and mark your territory. You can't let that go unchallenged.

Is the "reserve" the "Buy It Now" price?

Do you pay for shipping when you sell?

And isn't the problem with the low starting price is what if it's just not a real gem of an item and someone shnakes you?

Mtrnr2- Ha! I love it. Something about peeing on my 2 year old's Tonka truck doesn't sit right. But I do think that adult supervision will be the norm. I may also set up my video camera with night vision a few nights this week just to see. We have a bear that that has been wandering through also. But, as you can relate as a mountain resident, I love it. As dangerous as it may seem to some...

Matt- A reserve is a minimum selling price. With a reserve price you basically start the bidding low but the item won't sell until the bidding reaches a certain price that you set as the reserve. So, if you set a reserve at $40.00 the item will not sell until bidding reaches $40.00. This allows bidding to go higher than a "buy it now" price and also insures that you sell the item for the price you want.
A "buy it now" option is just that. Once the buyer chooses this the auction ends. But you can set up the sale as "buy it now" but start the bidding at a lower price and then once there is an initial bid the "buy it now" option is no longer a choice.

NIIIIIICE, my Sidi D4's were purchased almost brand new for $7.95 at the DAV thrift store in lakewood. Was one of the highlights of my college years...

Great shoes and serious score on the price, I have the same pair and love them. The only thing I don't like is that they are not the best for hike a bike stuff, which I am somewhat prone to do from time to time as I am a wuss on a mountain bike (but improve a bit with each ride).

GZ- Ya, Gordo is an old friend. I jokingly commented that he looked good for 50... but seriously, the dude looks like he's 30 (he's 42). Hell of nice guy.

Patrick/ Jeff- I have been jonesing for a pair of the Sidis Dominators and damn near crapped when I saw these. Sweet shoes. Jeff- I plan to put in some spikes for Silver Rush. I agree, the tread is weak. Not meant for off the bike work.

One ride in the Dominators, and they fit your foot like they were made just for it! Nice score.

Creepy about the cat...

Don't know much about the MTB shoes, but that has to be the "Blog Title of the Year" by far!

Happytrails- I've wanted a pair of these shoes forever.
We have 2 house cats and Oliver usually has his Tonka truck inside. I suspect that the puma smelled the house cats and marked his scent maybe? There was a puddle of urine in the bed of the Tonka truck so I know it wasn't another house cat, it was from a big cat. Could be a bobcat too though.

Dear Lucho:

Or is your name Tim? Or is it Waggoner? I can't keep this straight.

The first time I saw you come running by, I thought I would really like you. You run light on your feet and fast as the wind...not like most of the overweight fatasses I see waddling by. I guess there is something about an easy kill that is boring.

Well no sooner do I think I like you, then I start to see these blog entries about stumbling upon my tracks here and there. Well ask any of my other animal friends - the one thing I cannot tolerate is someone making fun of the size of my feet. Yea I have big feet - what's it to ya?

Then, the straw that broke the camel's back was seeing you out on these bike rides. I can't eat you if I can't catch you. So not only is that not fair, it really annoys me.

So yea, I pissed in your kid's truck - how bout them apples? I also left a dump on top of one of the logs you flip. I tried to eat one of your little pet foxes too, but they weren't around that night when I dropped by.

And what was with those shiny new shoes I saw the other day? You better not leave those by the door to dry off, because I'll piss all in those too if I get a chance.

Love,

The Mountain Lion.

Yes, I agree. It was Bob. That cat is hardly ever seen and his piss can cut through the steel of most industrial equipment.

I've had Sidi Action SRS's for about 6 years and have always had sidis for road shoes. Italians can't dress for shit but they make damn nice shoes and cars and motorcycles.

Night vision camera. What are you, in the Michigan Militia?

Picked up a used sweet 23+ lbs mountain bike this week. Ready for some recon in Leadville?
