Thursday Green Mountain

30:50 (I can't count it though as I did stop for a bio break and stopped my watch). Solid time but not a good run for me as I started too fast then blew up a little and wasn't able to exploit the flat sections which I had to use more for recovery. I left easily a minute on the trail due to poor pacing. I was keyed up and totally aggravated (more like furious really) after sitting in Boulder traffic. The drive took me an hour to get to the trail.
Traffic by the way is one of the top 3 things in the whole world that I hate the most. This is why I live in the mountains. Traffic up here is waiting for deer to cross the road.

Traffic is retarded.

Thanks for meeting out there. Nice run. Sorry for the drama at the run's end. I am currently leaking as you'd expect. All good. Maybe 3 beverages tonight.

I got strategy tips from the boys for my own PR efforts. It seems that Amp needs its own moderate ascent so that you are back by the Saddle Rock junction and can fly through those other flat to moderate uphill sections late. The Gregory route is the reverse for me. Harder then ease up. Oh well, I would still die for that time. Good seeing you. See you in the middle of the night in 8 days.

Shaun- Far from it. I think Anton runs that fast during a 30 mile training run. Rickey Gates has run 28:48 I think.

GZ- Ya. I was aggravated as you could tell and Boulder is just so crowded. Even the trails.
That's 2 falls in 2 runs with me. I'm bad luck. And 3-4 beverages is what I have been averaging for the last month! That's why I'm not ripped like you.

Thanks Brandon. One of these days I will listen to reason. I just can't employ even a similar strategy at Leadville!
Yep... nice and early at 4:00am!

Being aggravated is retarded.

You are not bad luck for me. I am just a klutz.

Hey, good running into you guys up there. I hear ya on the "crowded Boulder trails" comment, but after living here a year I've decided that on the balance, Boulder has a heckuva lot of good going for it when it comes to being a mountain runner.

I share similar feelings about traffic so I just try to use it as motivation to never drive in the city unless I'm actually headed out of town. Nice time on that route! Oh yeah, and I meant no malice towards triathletes (or former triathletes:-)

GZ- Ha! But it's true. When I used to bike 20-30 hours a week I learned that holding on to that aggravation is so unhealthy. A car would buzz me or give me the finger and I would just stew for the entire ride. I think today is part taper and part 3 hours of sleep. Mentally just on edge.

Anton- I did take offense to the comment so I appreciate the reply! But I would have gotten pissed if a bird would have chirped at me today, so no worries. Thin skinned I am!
I used to live in Boulder about 10 years ago and I just rode my bike everywhere and didn't own a car. And that really is the difference. It's such a small town you don't need a car.
About 90% of the running I do I never see anyone. Sort of a shock. I live by Walker and look at the back of Bear Mountain and run mostly up on unmapped forest trails and jeep roads.

Being a long time cyclist, I know what you mean about the traffic but that driver who pissed you off has already long forgotten about you, so do him the same favor and forget him.

I'll tell you right now that attitude is going to carry you through Leadville, not physical training. Stay positive! (or I'll kill and eat you when the sun goes down on Aug 21st).

Tim- Anyone who has known me even in passing will say that I'm a bit 'edgy'. Although some might say 'asshole' too. That's not an apology because I'm not here for them. I have learned that the things I can't control should be forgotten quickly. I learned that waving nicely to the guy in the car and then thinking about how awesome it was that I could be out there doing what I loved was 100 times more productive. Same with this morning... it was idiotic to get pissed about the traffic on my way to a sweet trail run with friends! Next Saturday it is about 90% mental/ 10% physical in determining how well it goes for me. If I stay positive and don't 'race' I'll do well. I learned a TON at Jemez that is going to help me at Leadville.

That's what I'm looking forward to. It sounds crazy but I truly believe you have a great shot at a top spot. You're probably stronger than anyone lining up there. Those 40 miles of Walkers blow my mind; not that you ran them but HOW you ran them, steady pace and strong to the last step, no bonk, no slowing. I think you could've gone another 5 laps at the same pace. I think I'm more excited about your race than any of mine I've done.

Thanks Tim! I almost even split the 6:38 50 mile race I ran and it has seemed that I don't start to feel good until after about 25-30 miles. Should be fun! I haven't felt nervous yet which is very good.

i think 'edgy' is the wrong word, i think that 'bitchy' is better.

or maybe 'princess'.....

but don't worry, i still shed a tear for you and your big ass truck and the troubles you had to overcome so you could go for an awesome run;)

You cut me deep Kerrie. Real deep. You can call me whatever you want, but don't be saying shit about my truck... I love that truck.

What are the other two? Are they both Justin Bieber?
