Wednesday

17 miles in 1:58. 6:57 pace with average HR 155 (zone 2)/ max HR 164 (AeT). I didn't want anything difficult this morning as I have a 25+ mile long run up and over Roger's Pass tomorrow with the guy that I think could win Leadville this year. This was all very relaxed with little effort but my HR was quite high due to low hydration (brown pee at half way and very little drop in HR when I stopped). I ran this down on the (flat) front range and to be honest the heat and humidity killed me. I had to be down for my annual skin screening for cancer... s'all good!

Luch - I said I *CAN'T* make it tomorrow. HEYOOOOO!

Lucho said...

That was good.
I figured you would give me shit for getting dehydrated.

So cryptic, Lucho. Two names spring to mind...

Lucho said...

Nick- The second one is right.
I'm not sure he wants to be 'outed' for the race so I'm being secretive.

Wow, a whole new level of crypticness, although I'm pretty sure of whom you are referring to as the 'second one,' I think. He's already laid down a few cryptic clues himself, if I am not mistaken...

Oh, the intrigue.

You have confused me at my own game. Well done sir.
Who is running Leadville anyway? Outside of GZ's predictions for a Roes/ Krupicka/ Jurek sweep... who else?

Nick said...

Yeah, I think GZ was a little hasty with the Roes call! I heard 899 people aside from yourself were already signed up. I could name a few, but I'm not sure they'll be favorites to win.

Of those that are 'out' I would say Duncan Callahan is probably the favorite, but I don't think he will win because he will be beaten by at least one of the aforementioned closeted contenders.

That would have been a pretty sweet Leadville though.

I have to be wrong with Roes, Jurek as they are going to UTMB. Unless things have really changed.

Tony is apparently on the fence re: Pb, PPM.

I love giving you shit. It's rare that I have reason to.

Is it Tim Deboom? Wasn't he going to try Leadville at some point? (Or did he already, I can't remember...)

if you aren't running with anton, then you aren't running with the winner.

Lucho said...

Anton won't run with me until I get a Hummer.

Not Tim DeBoom. He's probably doing the Leadville MTB race though.

Anonymous said...

deboom bombed already at leadville

Nick said...

Tim (L) - didn't you say something similar about Anton last year? ;-)

Okay, so Lucho, you're heading out with the man from Louisville who shall remain nameless and faceless ...

Anyway, you're all wrong, GZ is going to win Leadville. All his Pikes talk is a big bluff.

Lucho said...

Tim- You mean bailing on last years LT100 run?

Nick- Correct guess... "Mr. Louisville" has cancelled on me and is running in Leadville tomorrow instead.

Yeah, Over two years ago I also said Anton would break the course record at western and all the "accomplished" ultrarunners chided me for that.

Lucho said...

Anton finished in 15:13. The record is 15:07.

I studied English but I'm fairly sure that 15:13 is less time than 15:36, which was the cr at the time when I said he would run it faster.

It's gettin' a little chippy over on the Joghard blog! Good entertainment on a CRAWLING Thursday afternoon here at work, boys!

Lucho said...

I see what you're saying.

JP- chippy is good, no?

Chippy (yet respectful) is always better than daisy-soft posts. People, including myself, always seem to get cocky when training long miles even when it's the race result that matters....and this race is 100 miles. Sometimes it's best to ground yourself in respect for the event.

Well said Tim!

Ready to burn up the last fucking 50 miles of Leadville?!!! Easy out/pass all coming home.

Love it. Geoff Roes style.
