3:44 for maybe 25-26 miles. Awesome and fun run with Tim on some amazing trails around Eldorado. Gorgeous day. My legs felt pretty good to start and then midway felt pretty loaded, but they rallied and the last few miles I felt the best of the day.
Quotes from the day (not mine either. Mine can't be repeated on such a family based blog.):
'Rub orange peels in your armpits so you can go see your mom'
'Smells like rancid liver' (this one stopped me in my tracks with laughter... you had to be there. 3:00+ hours with out any calories and things get funny)

I had the run at 26 miles and change at 2:59:00. You should recalibrate your equipment.
Great time today! Those trails and the way we connected everything up so seamlessly was very cool - good flow to the whole run. Having a gorgeous female mountain biker who was "venting" her top almost run me over was just bonus.
Unbelievable. These are some pretty crazy runs you're putting in.
T- I just spent the last 2 hours mapping the route and it's actually about 26.5 but I'll be rounding it up to 30. I also figure we stopped for about 5 minutes but I'm calling it 30:00. Ya, I am now a fan of mountain biking. Thanks again, awesome run and awesome trails.
Ironboom- Thanks man. I am a great trainer... now we'll see how if I can race the same!
Great stuff Tim. They way your legs felt today - was that common in races/training when you did IM's? Do you expect that to happen as well at Leadville, a sort of feeling, heavy, then back around around? Maybe that cycle happening a few times?
Rick- Definitely. I think the bad patches are part of any endurance event (even life) and you just have to roll with it and give 100% of what you have to work with. Mark Allen used to say (in regards to blowing up at Ironman) that if you are only able to put out 80% of you ability then make sure you get all 80%. In the bad patches I think you have to simply put out 100% of what you have rather than completely fold and quit like I did at Moab. Give what you got and fight the good fight.
At Leadville I expect to have those cycles until it just bottoms out and stays there. Then it's just all about how strong your mind is.
How 'bout some more details on the route your two took. With both of you raving about it...inquiring minds want more!

Jim- I'm not familiar at all with the Boulder trails. I do know that we were on Blue Stem, Vista Ridge, Dowdy Draw, Community Ditch, then out in to Eldorado Park, Old Mesa Trail (not in that order) plus a bunch more. I was just along for the run, you might ask Tim what the route was?
I don't get the orange peel thing. Am I missing something?
Why no calories?
No, you're just not a dork like me. No calories first because I forgot them, then I didn't care because I didn't really need them. Burnin' fat baby...
