Thursday 29 miles

29 miles. 8:27 average pace (7" per mile faster than yesterday). 4928 ft of climbing (420 feet less than yesterday). I had thought about dropping down to a lower elevation but that wouldn't be repeating yesterdays run, so I kept it all above 8100ft again. I stopped a total of 20" to trade Camelbaks. I drank 4 liters of fluid nutrition. Ate an additional 600 calories. Perfect nutrition.

Did you have your HRM on today?

Very nice! I think all your Leadville "equals" should be very afraid...

Thanks Guys.

Rick- No HR. Not much need really. My Zone 2 HR range is 148-158 and yesterday I averaged 143 so I felt little need to see any numbers. I would guess today at well below 150 average.

Nice Work! Just Gatorade or something else?

Lucho said...

Brad- Ultrafuel for the first 13. Gatorade (which doesn't have HFCS if you buy the powder) and honey for the last 13.

Echo what everyone's said. What was the 600 calories, "perfect nutrition"?

Oh, and shoes?

Keep it rolling!

Hi, am I being stupid or do you have 2 watches on? Can't you get the altitude from the GPS?

Matt- The calorie intake and hydration was perfect. Nike Lunar Trainers with ~1500 miles on them. They are close to being smooth on the bottom and fit like slippers. Love em.

Triproject- You're not stupid at all! There are two watches there. The Garmin doesn't calculate ascent/ descent accurately at all. The altimeter is very accurate in calculating altitude change and has no band so I put it in my pocket and forget about it. So I'm not really 'wearing' two watches.
I prefer the altimeter much more over the Garmin but the Garmin has it's uses.

I'm nervous if the current wolf reflects your current state of being.
I think he has issues. He's like--mournful.

Wolves don't howl when they are mourning... it's a good thing.
Lois Crisler has said, “Like a community sing, a howl is a happy occasion. Wolves love to howl. When it is started, they instantly seek contact with one another, troop together, fur to fur. Some wolves will run from any distance, panting and bright-eyed, to join in, uttering, as they near, fervent little wows, jaws wide, hardly able to wait to sing.”

Thank you for the thought though! My life is a dream and a blessing.
