Wednesday

Busy last few days with the boys tag teaming me 10 hours a day since Saturday. My wife works Saturday and Sunday one weekend a month. My sleep is off like I was in Japan. I've raced a couple of times in Japan so I know these things. For the second night in a row I woke at 3:00 ready to start my day. My energy is freakishly high right now to the point I'm distracted and can't focus and my legs are jittery wanting to run. Whether they want to run hard for 33-ish miles is yet to be determined. I've been jogging each day... and I feel scary good. I haven't pushed to get any volume this week, just short quick runs, and it's sharpening me up nicely I think. I don't really consider 10 hour days with my boys stress or hard work, it's still rest but very active.
So Moab in 2 days. I've never raced 33-ish miles and I have no idea who the people are that are racing so I don't really have any expectations. I wouldn't have anything to base them on. I love the desert. I love to run. So I'm going to run through the desert and give it my best shot.

Some big names there last year. Definitely one of my favorite places - very jealous.

You'll do great. Mentally it seems you are "in the zone" and isn't that what matters most sometimes? Looking forward to seeing your results...go forth and kick ass!

Can't wait to hear how it goes. I know exactly what you mean by that excess energy, leg jittery need to run feeling.
You're going to have an awesome race.

I'm not going to wish you luck because you won't need it. You're going to kick ass on your own merit's. This will be a good brain training session that could have meaningful implications for you through the rest of the year. Don't think about who or what shows up, KNOW that you are the intimidator, not the intimadatee.. Confidence breeds victory!!

Nick C. did a write up on the competition at Moab at RunColo - here: http://www.runcolo.com/content.php?223-The-Red-Hot-50k-Preview-History

Should be a raucous good time.

Weather.com says 40 degrees and partly cloudy for Saturday.

Hope to run into you there...
