Thursday 24 miles

am) Mid week long run- 17 miles with avg HR 140.
Took my Camelbak with ~1.5 liters of water. 1 gel. 1 flask with 5 servings of concentrated Gatorade.

pm) 7 miles in 50:45. Avg HR 145/ avg pace 7:14. I remember a few months ago trying to kill a tempo run up here. I ran about the same pace as I did today, but at 25-30 beats higher HR. This was quite simple and relaxed, the 17 miles in the morning did nothing but make my legs feel great.

Seems like big big volume the last 2-3 weeks. Do you have any race scheduled for July? Is this a peak, or just establishing a new base at the lower HR?

Races will just be workouts, no focus. All I want to do is continue to adapt to the high altitude and the hills, push my mileage as high as I can, and get fast at an aerobic effort. Do this for another ~10-11 weeks then move straight in to a specific build for Chicago. That's the loose plan. There's little reason not to continue to do what I'm doing. I'm making leaps and bounds in fitness.
