I got wood..

This morning I ran in the forest and happened to bump in to a burly lumberjack that gave me wood.. another whole tree to be exact. This time he cut it up in to 6 foot lengths for me and I filled my Honda Civic- back seat to the roof, trunk to the limit. After a nice recovery run- which happened to be possibly the best run I've had in a very long time, I humped my wood back to my wood hole and chopped and split until my stomach, shoulders and arms started to turn to jell-o. Darth, my maul, is not letting me down in regards to my need to kick my own ass. If I don't get to run to satiate my masochism then I'll heat my home with it.
Back to the less interesting words.. the reason my run was so good, was that I ran quite quickly, on a hilly route and my HR averaged 134.. at 8000ft altitude. I felt amazing. I found a fairly long stretch of flat terrain (on the sandy shore line of Gross Reservoir) and ran 5 X 30" strides which felt awesome too.
And for my own athletes out there reading this- you'll be glad to hear that I got a little bit of an ass chewing from my coach for getting too zealous on my hill intervals. All those times I've done the gnawing it's time for me to receive it.. Having a coach though has been a great thing for me in just one week. My volume is lower than ever but I am bouncing off the walls with motivation and an edginess when I run.. as if I wasn't already edgy!?

If you have morning wood for four hours or more contact a physician. It might lead to a wolf style life style otherwise. Or maybe it means you have indeed adapted to harder elevations.

I'm probably going to have wood for the rest of the week.. I don't want to wear myself out trying to get rid of it.. my arms get tired.

Yeah ... pedantic.

Hey, when we get to the high altitude camp ... chainsaw work kicks ass too. I have got all these beetle kill trees that I chainsaw down. Not the same workout as a maul, but it does beat the crap out of you after a few trees.

I have a chainsaw... but I also have a car. I could have driven my long run on Sunday, that would have been a lot easier.
The point of the maul is that I want the path of MOST resistance.
