Monday 9mi.

Our camp was awesome! We drove down an old jeep rode, in my Honda Civic, in to the Roosevelt National Forest way out in the boonies. We woke up this morning at 5:00am and it was freezing! I hadn't brought any warm running gear so I had all my hill billy clothes on driving to the race.
Warmed up and my legs felt as dead as I expected them to. Heavy and numb. The field was supposed to be good, or so a runner warned. First mile was uphill and we went through in 5:16.. felt blah, not hard, not easy. Mile 2, same. Mile 3 and I got bored with the pace so I pushed hard for about 10 meters and everyone dropped. I kept the pressure on for another mile and no one responded. I held my pace at that point and simply held off second place and I won by 4 seconds. It felt good to run a smart race and to really not have to push that hard to win over a fairly good field.. or so that runner had warned. 32:46 at altitude on the Monday after a 120 mile week.
We went to Horsetooth Reservoir afterwards and Ben, Jo and I went for our swim. Ben ate some sand.

I hear sand is a good supplement to a diet high in dirt. Nice work on the win Lucho!
