Immediately after the run I drank 46oz of V8 juice (natural sodium and blood Ph balancers), 1 liter of water and an apple.
Dinner: Home grown pork chops (thanks Uncle Ron!), vegetables, a hoppy concoction (EPO for the soul), a mega vitamin B supplement (muscle growth and red blood cell builder- best (and only) recovery supp I take), and flax oil.
This is Paleo and it's (almost) all an athlete needs... I promise. We are brain washed in to believing that our bodies need more, but they don't. Quality over quantity.

Damn that looks good. Simple, tasty and awesome! That might be the best looking chop I've ever seen; I need an uncle Ron.
Carter
Stoopid me. Great day, sir. Great beer especially with the price.
I'm cheating a little like you said in previous post. A little upper body stuff, but mainly squats and lunges. That what you have in mind as far as cheating the run? Your experience and what I have seen with me on a much smaller scale make me think that is a good approach.
Cheers!
Carter- Homegrown and hickory smoked hog... you should see the bacon I got! Yum.
Matt- The Hop Stoopid is one of my favorites. Like you said, good price, great beer.
Squats are KING! I made my own squat rack in my shed. Squats are a super core exercise (think stabilization) That and dead lifts which engage about a gazillion muscles. Upper body is key also for over-all functional strength... girly arms and backs are useless. Especially with kids!
Thnaks for the V8 idea. I sweat profusely and tend to get some bad headaches after long runs.
Is the flaxseed oil mostly to reduce inflammation like fish oil? And if so, why flaxseed instead of fish oil?
Lucho,
So do you eat mostly Paleo? (or at least the Friel adaptation) Just curious as I've gone that route the past six months and have enjoyed the results.
Larry- I got the flax oil on sale :)
Here's an article...

Sean- I am pretty much Paleo 24/7 right now. On the bike and during my run yesterday I did eat/ drink outside of that though. My recovery has never been better, but that's also partly from not "chasing numbers" each week. I train 100% according to how my body feels on the day. I have a list of 3 hard workouts that I do each week, all the others are MAF or recovery and I decide what workout I'll do according to how I feel. If I feel great then I kill it. If not then I chill. That with the diet is doing me good.
Hooray beer!
Nectar of the Gods that.
Hey, that looks my typical dinner: 50/50 protein and veggies + IPA :)
Hop Stoopid rocks.
I agree V-8 is an interesting idea. And S-caps and water on the hot longer runs have been working pretty well.
Mt- Ya, I took in 2 S-caps per hour during my run yesterday. Mostly just prevention which is a good idea in hot conditions. V8 is the bomb.
