Friday... wasted and dead

My legs are pretty much fu*ked this morning. The last 48 hours have seen a track session, hard bike, tempo run, and last night a 1:20 run in the back woods of Roosevelt National Forest with 2600ft of climbing. I'm honestly not sure what I'm doing besides killing myself with hard efforts right now, which feels good and fun. I'm definitely frustrated with having lost so much strength and speed and it sucks that I can fall naturally in to an 8:30 pace rhythm. I really don't want to be good at slow running. (I understand that statement is possibly insulting to some people- but remember that I ran a 2:30 marathon (5:43 pace) in the recent past and have run a 2:50 marathon (6:30 pace) in an Ironman, so it's all relative.) I want to race tomorrow- a 15 miler at 9000ft altitude and I expect my soreness to peak out today and carry over to tomorrow. It starts just up the road from me so I can decide in the morning.

RUN IT! From reading your blog, You don't have many issues running when not in a race but have lots of demons when you do. The more you face them, the more you might understand what those demons are and how to fix it! Good luck.

Thanks~ my demons seem to be that I hate competing. Not sure how I can make it fun.

I thought the goal for this race was to avoid being hit by the train...pretend you're in a game of Frogger...that'll make it fun.

My money's on you tomorrow.

It's almost certainly a mistake for me to race tomorrow but I'll probably make that mistake.

Good luck if you decide to race tomorrow. I'm in Boulder by the way. :) Maybe we can hook up. I'm here thru next Tue.

anyone can train hard but it really takes discipline to recover well.
