Saturday Mountain Lions!

Am) 16 miles with some fartlek hills. My legs felt really good this morning but I held off a bit and will save it for tomorrow which is planned as tempo intervals up Shimley Road. It's a 2.6mi x 1000ft climb up to 9200ft. The plan is to run 2-3 times up at HR 165-175. Still somewhat aerobic for me but putting out a fairly big effort too.

And below are pictures taken by our neighbor up the road on March 21st. A litter of lion cubs who haven't learned to fear Man yet. With out a doubt this wigs me out a little bit lot and I can see a dog joining our family soon.

I'll send Pippit up there to take care of those cats.

Oh my God, I know I am a chick, but they ARE SO CUTE! So SNUGGLEY!
I know their mom would likely eat you up, but these little guys are freaking adorable.

Holy Smokes! They are really cute but a bit scary at the same time. Momma on the outskirts of the house maybe lectured them after this?

Very cool pix

This would make me concerned going out on runs solo where you live. SERIOUS wild life action! Do you carry anything????

Tim- I thought Pippit was a lover not a fighter?

MIM- 'Little'? Relatively speaking I guess. I agree, they are cute.

Kerrie- I am thinking something a little smaller maybe. Your dogs are like bears!

TGP- No, I never carry anything. The odds are astronomical that a mountain lion would attack a person (falling refrigerators kill more people per year). The number one killer of humans is dogs. I am more afraid of some of the local dogs than I am anything else. Mountain lions don't want to interact with people (of course the pictures don't show this) and would rather just avoid us... I don't blame them!

Pippit's the fighter. I'm the lover.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Ummmm... ya. Ok then. Pippit is welcome but you... maybe not so much.

That's crazy. I wonder where momma was...they're young.

Do you remember the second Jurassic Park when the T-rex gets loose in San Fransisco and in the end the momma pushes the baby T-rex to hunt and kill the dude? It's exactly like that but with cougars and in Colorado and with a pet not a person.

Those intervals tomorrow may just trigger an instinctual desire to chase you down. Watch out for momma!

Jim- Ya, really! I am probably going to run laps on Walker instead... but still.

Dogs? Nah. People are probably the number 1.

You sir, are doing some sick ass workouts.

Rhodesian Ridgeback is your dog. You'll have no lion problems, great w/ kids and family, run w/you all day long (maybe not you!) or be a couch potato. They never "false bark." If they bark or get worked up, you can be sure there's something around.

dang, you need to become better friends with your gun-toting neighbor.

Rick- What's one of them go for ($$$)?

Donna- I might have more guns than he does :)
