8 miles. Average HR 142/ average pace 8:32/ 1800ft of climbing.
Today starts an 11 week training block to the Moab 50k which is actually 34 miles. This seems to be the kind of race I'll enjoy training for, we'll see. A mix of marathon training with the need to focus on hills. I'll use a similar program as I did for Chicago but the terrain up here will be a benefit rather than a hindrance.

I remember reading in the past a lot about how many people get lost on this course...not sure how you reduce that risk other than maybe talking to people who have done it before? Looks/sounds awesome!

Just wondering if you'd heard of the Montrail Mountain Masochist shoes? I recently got a pair, and they are much more like running shoes than most trail runners I've tried. Big toe box, nice and light. Also, fairly neutral. Just FYI ... I tried Salmon's before, and they were more like hiking boots than running shoes to me.
Brett- I've heard of the shoes. The wide toe box is crucial for my neuroma. Thanks for the tip. Maybe when yours wear out I can buy them off you.
Don't miss this race report either...http://antonkrupicka.blogspot.com/2008/02/moab-red-hot-50k.html
If you keep winning races, I'll send them to you for free. :) Actually, maybe Montrail will, too?
