I jogged this morning on a flat trail at low altitude for recovery- HR averaged 124. This evening I am doubting the benefit of a second run and have opted to rest and eat. I might race this weekend and wouldn't mind feeling good for it.
We met a hundred years ago at Speedy Reedy's for two seconds back in Seattle days. I remember because Reed told me you'd just won IM age-groupers. That kinda makes an impression!
JP- Wow.. blast from the past! Reed was a good friend of mine, he helped me out a lot when I was working to afford bike gear. Here's a "when I was young" story... we used to head out to the I-90 Lake Washington Bridge at 5:00am in the pitch dark and swim the buoys to Mercer Island and back. 3 miles and the water was so cold I would get hypothermia almost every time. We would swim it when it was all white caps.. tough but good times.
That's gnarly! I lived off the lake in the Madrona 'hood and ran across that bridge all the time.. many, many times with those white caps coming onto the deck! I thought all the time about getting the marbles up to just swim out to the island on a calm day while having someone spot me from the bridge but never did it.

You should go show all those "flatlanders" your back on Sunshine Canyon!
I'll give it a go. Are you racing? We haven't met yet.
And I see you're leaving for Chicago.. another time.
