am) 10 miles. No HR/ no watch.. all easy jogging. My knee feels very good today- only a faint tightness. Post run there is no soreness. Also, I stopped wearing my Newtons 2 weeks ago and the pain in my foot is steadily going away. Today is the first day in months that I felt no discomfort. Although I like the 'idea' of the Newtons.. I may have to back pedal and retract my original thoughts on the shoes. I should have known- as the 2 pairs that I have, were given to me by guys that were hurt by them.
pm) 11 miles in 1:15.. avg. HR 146. Max 151. Still took it easy to make sure my knee is solid. I may try to run some AeT miles tomorrow.

Lucho,
I am in the same boat on the Newtons...initially I really liked them. But, after a very moderate and conservative build up in them - I ended up with a calf injury. I still love the feel of them, but am only using them as walk-around shoes for now. For running, I'm sticking to my Asics Kayanos and DS Trainers for now.
Smart man.. I cut the "pods" off one pair and they are fairly ok. The uppers are awesome in hot weather- very breathable. Good concept but the application is wrong.
Did you guys find that the small bones on the outside of your foot below your ankle protrusion got sore in the Newtons? I have shelved mine for now because of that... They sure did feel good to start....
MJ- I didn't have the same issue- but that makes perfect sense. The peroneus longus and peroneus brevis tendons attach to the 5th metatarsal and act as a sort of spring. The 5th metatarsal would be put under quite a load in the Newtons.
I agree, I loved them when I first tried them too!
I guess if we aren't the only ones with these issues there might be people all over africa wearing used Newtons soon. http://www.shoe4africa.org/
