October... the week before Kona and I'm already pissy and on edge and keyed up. I love this week... too much! It will only get worse as the week goes on. And my athletes racing Kona only compound the stress... but that's a good thing. Michelle and Josh are both in the shapes of their lives and I am extremely nervous and anxious for them. Saturday will be ~10 hours straight in front of the computer as the online coverage of Ironman Hawaii is amazing.
Couldn't agree more. Last years finish with McCormack and Llanos was epic...
ReplyDeleteI meant Raelert and McCormack...
ReplyDeleteYa man. And Macca's not there. It's Alexander's race IMO.
ReplyDeleteAnd it will also be fun to watch how far up the men's field Chrissy gets!
Yeah what's the latest on Chrissy? I know she had a crash, but was it bad? Doesn't matter though, she'd go fast with a broken leg:).
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever told you but my wife and I got married in Kona 3 days before the race in 2000 when Peter Reid won and Tim Deboom got second.. I see that you raced in 00' as well and finished as the top AG'er. I was out there to not only get married but cheer on some of my training partners racing. I was prepping for IMF at the time so I did a lot of training while I was out there for the week. Made my way out to Hawi a couple of times and did some baking in the energy lab, swam with the dolphins, etc.....
ReplyDeleteDave- I think from her latest blog post she's ready to kill it. She just lost a layer or two of skin, nothing broken. I suspect that she's tough as nails and a consummate professional. She'll win.
ReplyDeleteWard- Sweet! Awesome place to get married!
I was telling Julie the other day that I wish you were here. I'm fairly certain that if you were there in the energy lab I'd probably figure out a way to go faster. Sigh. Instead I'll have to just remember you telling me to 'just freakin' WILL your legs to run faster!' :)
ReplyDeleteOh hell yes you would run faster! But you'll do awesome and amazing on your own! Or take your cell phone and call me when you get out of the NEL :)
ReplyDeleteLucho...
ReplyDeleteWhen are you going back ;) ?
I hope that comment doesn't rile you up. I only ask it because it would be great to see you KILL IT at 40+ years old.
-Kevin
Kevin- Probably not Hawaii, unless my boys want to race it and then I'll be in the 65-69 category. I could see doing something like St George though.
