Thursday 9 miles and Mt Evans practice course

Average HR 148/ 2100 feet of climbing. I held what feels like the perfect mix of difficult aerobic effort. I ran part of my Mt Evans training course. Here's the elevation profile:

Just under 14 miles and I haven't done an altimeter verification but Mapmyrun which is notoriously WAY off has it at 4010 feet of climbing (it starts at 6257 feet and ends at 10,500... which with out any downhills is 4243 feet of climbing). I'm guessing it will be closer to 4500ft which makes it more than Evans minus the altitude but I plan on stuffing my mouth with a vomit soaked sock to simulate the race. This run ends ~3 miles (cross country) from my house so although it's not exactly like Evans I'll take it because it's in my 'back yard'.

Running with a sock in your mouth! If I saw someone running down the road like that, I'd for sure have to do a double take, then maybe call an EMS thinking that the person was choking on something...

Make sure you wash the sock first...

Come to think of it, that almost exactly what the top of Pikes felt like for me!

I've always joked that you could simulate high altitude by doing that. It would be really horrible and painful.

Just today I was wondering what the Evans Road is like. Probably snowshoe only. And DEEP in places.

I have no idea! I bet you're right though.
