Here are a few thoughts on this morning's run. After 2 cups of coffee and walking out the door to run my HR was 54 as I sat and tied my shoes.
First 8 miles in 46:12. Average HR 152.. Average pace 5:46. Max HR 165.. Fastest mile 5:22. My thought on that was "damn". The effort was extremely relaxed.
4 miles run at goal marathon EFFORT, I ran entirely by perceived exertion which was comfortable:

Max HR during this 4 miles was 166.
At this point I stopped the run as I had planned it and went in to a steady and easy run to finish... sort of the "Don't fix what isn't broken" idea. I had hoped to make this week a tough one just to make sure I was ready for the marathon. I still don't know 100% for sure, but this run gives me a pretty good idea.
